It was my birthday on Friday and so I decided to treat myself to a new Blu-ray, and I couldn’t think of anything better to buy for myself than the recent UK release of Ponyo on Blu-ray, I wasn’t disappointed!

Ponyo is the story of Sosuke and a Goldfish that he discovers one morning washed up on the beach who he names Ponyo. The story revolves primarily around Sosuke and him trying to find Ponyo again after he loses her to the ocean, once Sosuke is finally reuinted with Ponyo he discovers that Ponyo has magical powers and that she can change her shape to that of a human.

The voice cast for Ponyo is pretty impressive, including Matt Damon as Sosuke’s father, Cate Blanchett as his mother and Liam Neeson as Ponyo’s father Fujimoto who no matter how hard he tries, he cannot stop Ponyo from leaving him and the rest of the ocean to get back to Sosuke.

Ponyo is a great kids film, it’s really sweet and i’m sure anyone would enjoy watching it, especially if you pick up the Blu-ray release like I did, the animation is wonderful and the colours are so vibrant. The voice acting is clear and well done and the music is beautiful, pick it up!

I was recently in a sunny(ish) beach(ish) town in the UK called Bridlington, strolled in this really crappy record store that had DVD’s I’d never heard of and CD’s that shouldn’t have been that price for their age, then I saw it – The new Brand New album ‘Daisy’ WHY didn’t I know it was coming out?

Well, Brand New aren’t your typical band, they shy away from publicity and the spotlight, so it didn’t surprise me that I didn’t even know they were working on a new album, let alone it was already out.

I was there, staring at the album in this really poor record store, is that the Brand New? Hard to tell, they don’t have a band logo so to speak either, in my doubts I walked away pondering if it was a new album or not.

Next day, google, then play.com, it was ordered, it was Brand New and it was their new album. Two years after their last effort “The Devil and God are raging inside me”; this album – once again sees the band reinventing their sound (they remind me of Incubus for that) and at first I have to admit I wasn’t sure.

These guys are packin' the skillz.

The album has taken me a fair ol’ while to get into and for a long period I was really unsure if I even liked the CD as a whole, however it’s got that tag of a ‘grower’ like some other classic albums have, it really is a grower and each song is really well done and really adventurous for the band, another new direction another success I say!

Buy it now, It’s brilliant! (Oh, and it’s on offer!)

The recently announced “Xbox 360 Slim” (Hate the ‘slim’ bit, will get to that in a moment) was announced recently by Microsoft, and although deep down it’s still the same console, it’s looking like one great improvement.

First of all, the design – it’s a much sleeker, edgier and smaller design, but it’s hardly slim, especially when you go and compare the original Playstation 3, to the Playstation 3 slim, that is infact slimmer, this new Xbox not so much, AND it’s gamers that have started calling it ‘slim’ not MS themselves, so why not think of a spiffy name for it real quick Microsoft so people don’t keep calling it slim.

It’s cooler, YAY!, as in fans, not trends, yes, we’re all hoping and praying this could be the end of The Red Ring of Death now that the new console is packing a better fan, it’s also one big large fan now instead of two smaller ones which, brings me on to my next plus…

It’s quieter! The Xbox 360 is possibly the loudest console ever made, I mean, it sounds like a plane is taking off when you turn it on, no other console has ever been as loud as this and hopefully no other console ever will be. The new console is supposedly “whisper quiet”, it’s apparently as quiet as a PS3, hope so! but, we shall see.

Built in wi-fi – It’s hard to believe the xbox 360 has never had this, but now, it finally does, my only problem with this is the fact i’d already wasted £50 on the official wireless dongle for the 360 which, now becomes unwanted, a bit like memory cards; more about that later.

More memory – The new console has a 250GB Hard drive and more USB ports, it now has 5 USB ports instead of the regular three, the more the merrier!

“Kinect ready” – When it was announced that this console was Kinect ready, people weren’t sure what that meant, well now that Microsoft has cleared this up we have a few more details, basically, if you have a current gen Xbox 360, you will require a separate power source for your Kinect system, but if you have the new console you won’t – Bonus.

The only downfall I can see with the new console is they have completely dropped memory cards (there is no slot for them) in favour of using USB sticks, this wouldn’t have been so bad apart from the fact most of us have already spent £30-40 on a memor card for our systems.

The new Xbox 360 is out on my birthday (woot!) the 16th July and will be priced at £199.99 which, is the price of the current generation of Xbox 360′s (another bonus).

Take a look at some sexy screenshots of the new 360 here.

The official Apple site has now been updated with the specs, some sweet high quality (as always) pictures for you all to drool over as well as some nice uses of -webkit to show of its new ‘Retina Display’ functionality.

The iPhone 4 will be available for pre-order in the UK from June 15 and will go on sale from the 24th, will it be the same price as the current iPhone? probably not, but hopefully it won’t be too much more.

The problem with border-radius for me and i’m sure others is just trying to remember the damn tag! you need to state border-radius, aswell as the webkit target equivalent AND the firefox one on top of that.

That’s where Jacob Bijani’s Border-radius.com comes into play, “CSS Border radius generator for lazy people” is the strapline, I wouldn’t call it lazy but it’s not the easiest tag to remember, so make sure to bookmark it, it always comes in handy!
